Hey there! I'm Ben. I'm 23 years old and a graduating senior at UCLA majoring in anthropology. I come from a pretty diverse background: My mom's side is of Russian Jewish descent and my dad's side is Mexican (with Mexica and Tarahumara blood) . I'm openly gay, in love with an amazing man, in a fraternity- Delta Lambda Phi Gamma Chapter. and love chocolate. I'm a huge nerd and proud Japanophile. I work a lot with the Native American community and will be going to grad school studying Native culture. I love getting messages in my ask box so feel free to hit me up!

Oh how fun. My anthropology professor just said “illegal alien” without seeming to think anything was wrong.

If it was a normal professor, ok. But this is anthropology. C’mon people get your shit together.

I know that people don’t always get it, but referring to someone as an “illegal alien” dehumanizes them and makes it easier to treat them like an issue instead of thinking about them in human terms.  Just like the term fag is technically understood to refer to a gay person but isn’t considered respectful, the term illegal alien isn’t respectful either.
